Parrot CK3100 Hands Free Kit

Mobileinstall Supply and install a comprehensive range of Handsfree car kits however our most poular kit for the last 3 years running is the Parrot CK3100.

In the world of modern communications technology it really is remarkable that a kit designed nearly 5 years ago now could still be outselling its quite often more modern and sophisticated rivals.

I put this down to 3 things.

1. They don't break.
I've fitted these kits in dustbin lorries, courier van's and demolition trucks and then removed them to be fitted in new vehicles 3 years later.  This is the kit that keeps on trucking.

2.  They work with almost every phone.
Every phone that has bluetooth anyway, and if there's ever a compatibility issue Parrot have a software update for their kit available for download within a couple of weeks of a new handset being released.

3.  They're simple to use
Which is really important when you're driving, A big green button to answer, a red one to hang up, and a volume knob in the middle that also lets you select contacts from your phonebook to make calls. It really couldn't be easier.

If you run a fleet of company cars, vans or trucks then this is the kit that Mobileinstall would recommmend that you have fitted, and of course if you're located in  Manchester, Stockport, Bury, Bolton, Oldham, Wilmslow, Warrington, Wigan, Preston, Rochdale and across the Northwest. then
We are the Nokia Accredited and Parrot Certified installer for your area.

Fleet Vehicle Tracking

At Mobileinstall we fit all kinds of tracking systems for different applications but if you need the best solution for tracking your vehicle fleet be it cars vans or HGV then we recommend Box Telematics.

This unit is covertly fitted in the vehicle and uses very little power so the vehicle can be left parked for weeks at a time without it flattening the battery.  It has its own back-up battery which will last for several days in the event of the vehicle battery being disconnected.

Whenever the vehicle moves data is recorded, every change of direction and speed is monitored and all of this information is sent back to Box Telematics servers every 2 mins where it will be stored for 13 months.

Using Box Telematics software "Spot On" you can view live positions or any history of any vehicle movements.  The software can be set up to deliver reports of daily journeys mileage summaries anything you may want which can be printed off in spreadsheet format.

You can generate exceptions which can be reported upon, the tracking unit has a clever sensor which can register harsh acceleration or braking and you can receive speed reports or out of hours use reports which can be sent to you by email or text message (text message charges apply email is free)

You can also set geofences, perimeters around certain places so that when the vehicle goes near a place or leaves a place that can be reported in the same way.

The software works on any windows PC and you can install it on as many machines as you wish with multiple users for which you can set access levels.

This requires a monthly subscription of £10+vat per vehicle payable by direct debit.

Remote Immobilisation

In addition we can fit remote immobilisation to the vehicle allowing you to enable and disable the starter circuit on the vehicle using the spot on software

Driver ID with remote immobilisation

This is a touch key receptacle fitted on the dashboard which must be activated by a driver key before the vehicle can be used. Not only is this an extra security measure for your vehicle but allows for different drivers journey information to be recorded separately meaning that if you have multiple drivers of multiple vehicles you can bring up the history of a driver as well as a vehicle.   The key can be overridden remotely using "Spot On". Each car kit is supplied with 1 driver key, additional keys are available for £10+vat.

All vehicle equipment is manufactured specifically to order, delivery takes 3-5 days we can usually arrange installations within a week of your order being placed.

Cars Stolen in The UK Theft Methods and Statistics

This graph shows car theft in the UK recently and shows the popularity of each different method.

As you can see, protecting your car with a car alarm or immobiliser will not protect against 79% of these thefts as the cars were stolen with the keys.

The most common method of car theft now is 2 people arriving at your house on a motorbike. They knock on your door and demand the keys. There's not much you can do as the thief is wearing a motorbike helmet. Once the thief has your keys either by peaceful or by violent means, they make off in your car with the other thief following on the (stolen) motorbike. They'll often load your car with your cash jewellery and even your plasma telly if there is room.

All is not lost however, with a modern tracking system from Smartrack you can get your car back in minutes. Just call the police and report your car stolen. The police will give you a crime number. Then call Smartrack and report the theft quoting the crime number. Smartrack can then pinpoint your car on a map using the tracking system's GPS and GSM technology they can speak directly to the police control centre guiding them to your car.  If your car is moved without the keys then Smartrack will be pro-actively on the case calling you on your mobile to alert you of any unauthorised movement of your car or battery disconnection which might disable your car alarm system.  They'll even send you a text to warn you if your battery is going flat, how's that for service.

For information on how to protect your car caravan motorbike or motorhome then please visit our website

THB Bury CC9060 Goes Multipoint

For the last couple of weeks we've been testing the new software release for the THB CC 9060 Touch screen Bluetooth Hands Free Car Kit.

This kit already has the latest voice recognition and speech synthesis allowing you to call anyone from your phone's contact list with one touch of the screen.  Recognition of your voice is made by the kit's own voice and unlike previous voice activated kit, this one requires no training, it downloads all your contacts from your phone and recognises your voice straight out of the box.

See this video for more details

The new software now allows for 2 phones to be connected at once a feature known as 'Multipoint'  It also has a new 'Magic Word' feature.  This means you can make a call without touching the screen at all just by saying "Activate Voice Dialling" and the kit will mute the car radio and beep waiting for your next command which can be "Call Bill Jones Mobile" it will then respond by saying back to you "Calling Bill Jones Mobile" and place the call.

If your car stereo has a line in connection for MP3 players, this kit can stream music from any A2DP equipped mobile phone through the Hi-Fi.

Thanks to the Bluetooth profile A2DP you can play back music files, such as MP3s in stereo, from your mobile phone via the vehicle loud speakers. Furthermore, operation is easy as commands such as play, pause, stop, fast forward, rewind and volume can be carried out via the touch screen. Everyone can hear their favourite song at the touch of a button.

The touch-screen clips off its mount for safe storage if parking in dodgy areas.
DSP (Digital Signal Processing) hands free cuts out background noise and echo to ensure callers hear you clearly.
Mobileinstall Ltd offer a complete hands free kit fitting service across the Northwest, we can come to your home or office and professionally install this kit or a wide range of others.

Nokia CK200 Car Kits can connect 2 phones at once

I travelled down to Oxfordshire last week to witness the launch of the new Nokia Hands Free Car kit the CK200

This latest kit has a wireless remote control and removable screen. It doesn't have any music steaming functions like the Parrot MKi9100 or a touch screen or fancy voice dialling like THB's CC9060 kit  in fact its voice dialling is limited to activating that of the phone itself.

The reason for this is that this kit is aimed at a much lower price point than either of the above.

The kit has been developed to compete with Nokia's biggest rival in the Bluetooth sector Parrot who's CK3100 car kit has been the best seller in Europe for more than 2 years. Aimed at exactly the same price point the CK200 boasts Multipoint which allows for 2 mobile phones to be connected at once. This feature coincides with the UK's saturation rate for mobile phone ownership rising above 90 million which means that a lot of Nokia's potential customers will be carrying 2 phones with them while out and about.

We expect to have this kit in stock within the month, please call us for more details 07811 266591

Car Tracker System Fitted in Cheshire

If you own a flash car in Cheshire there's a fairly good chance of a couple of thugs knocking on your door and demanding the keys.

Your car will probably never be seen again on the shores of Britain and be gracing the driveway of a new owner in Tajikistan before long.

Even when your insurance eventually pays out, you'll never get what you paid for it and you'll be seriously out of pocket.

You can stop this happening to you by getting a decent tracker professionally fitted. You only need buy it once as we can then transfer the tracker when you change cars.

The tracker is monitored 24/7 and can track your car right across europe, however they're normally recovered within an hour of being reported stolen if they have a tracker fitted.

Sadly, most of my customers who buy this product have usually had their last car nicked because it wasn't tracked.

Get it tracked = Get it back!

Smartrack's caravan tracker is insurance approved so will qualify you for insurance discounts when fitted.

Mobileinstall can come to you and install your caravan tracker in about 2 hours for a new market beating price of £299.00 that includes vat and installation!

BUSY BUSY BUSY!

The sun is out and things are realy starting to pick up at last!

Yesterday I started with a Parrot CK3100 insto a Dodge Journey in Stockport

The off to Manchester to install a Nokia CK100 kit into an Audi A3

Then off to Gatley to install a set of front & rear Parking Dynamics PD1 invisible parking sensors into a Nissan 370z which looks like a terrifyingly fast car.

It took five hours in total to fit them but it looked areally neat job when it was finished as all you can see of the kit is a small black push button just by the steering column to activate the front sensors.

I'm off up to Westhaughton this morning to install another set of PD1 parking sensors to a Toyota Landcruiser

The Best Parking Sensors?

I'm an installer for the Parking Dynamics sensors.

There is a great deal of argument regarding which type of sensors are best;

Ultrasonic (visible type with heads)
or
Elecromagnetic (invisible type with strip fitted behind the bumper)

The quick answer is neither is best but here are some pointers to influence your buying decision.

Ultrasonic sensors require the bumper to be drilled.
If there is rain on the sensor heads they may not work properly
If the car is any other colour than black, the sensors will need to be colour matched to the car. If that isn't done with the correct primer/paint at the correct temperature the paint will chip off after the first few jet-washes and look rank.
Be very careful what make sensors you get, Steelmate and Laserline are good, there are 101 chinese makes that aren't.
I do still fit steelmates to vans with black bumpers, but on cars now I fit the Parking Dynamics sensors.

Electromagnetic sensors require that the bumper be removed to be fitted.
If you try and do it without taking off the bumper and cleaning it really thoroughly then the strip will peel off after a bit and then be intermittent. I clean the inside of the bumper shell with alcohol spray and then use a special sealing tape and plastic sealant spray after fitting the sensor strip.
To get them to work properly lots of things need to be taken into account, the height of the sensor, the thickness of the bumper the position of the crash-bar. If you have never fitted them before, you're likely to get one of these factors wrong and the sensors will give false warnings.
The buzzer on the parking dynamics kit is a bit too quiet to be fitted in the rear of the car and need to be fitted in the front to be effective.

So in conclusion

Your best option is to get the Parking Dynamics sensors fitted to your car by a professional
Its not the cheapest option, but if you were cheap you'd be driving a Kia (If that's you..... Sorry!)

If you're in the Northwest, I'd be delighted to offer my services.

Big Brother is hiding in the ground

It seems that the Traffic Wardens Big Brother is now hiding in the Tarmac

They're fitting sensors in the road that will tell the yellow peril exactly how long you've been parked there!

Which pretty much takes the sport out of it doesn't it?!

I'm not sure why the parking attendant is wearing a cowboy hat but I'll leave you to work out the relevance of that one.

Motorola TK30 Music and Hands-Free Pro-Install Car Kit

After a long time away, Motorola launch themselves back into the Hands Free Car Kit market with the first in a series of new multimedia Bluetooth kits.

The kit supports 3 methods of physical connection of music sources an iPod/iPhone connector, a USB socket for memory keys and a 3.5mm jack plug for analogue music sources.

Wireless streaming of music from A2DP equipped Bluetooth devices is also supported so you can play music from your phone with it in your pocket or locked in the glove-box on charge.

It features phone book sync with your mobile and voice dialling and voice prompts should mean you can take and make calls safely without taking your eyes off the road.

We've seen kits offering these features from Nokia and Parrot, but the Moto TK30 has 2 (as yet) unique advantages.

1. 4x 15watt per channel amplifier built in to the kit
2. Multipoint connectivity (allows 2 Bluetooth devices to connect simultaneously)
3. It warns you if you get in OR out of your car without your phone (nice touch :)

The kit should hit these shores mid April, prices yet to be confirmed although rumour has it that its going to give Parrot, Nokia and THB a run for their money.

Audi TT Mk1 cradle & Satnav mounting

There's been a severe lack of decent mounts for your cradle for this car as the Brodit one

Is WAAY down in the passenger footwell

And The Dashmount one

Flaps about like a flag when its got a cradle fitted on it

Look at these though

Not cheap.. Prices start from $35.00 USD plus carriage from across the pond but a nice bit of kit all the same, will fit stuff on the drivers side too if required.

Ideal for folks running satnav on their phones

Would work on an Audi A3 too as the air vents are the same

Multipointing or Bluetooth Multipoint

Multipoint is the new buzzword in hands free car kits. The latest car kits from THB and Motorola now support multipointing which allows 2 bluetooth devices to be connected to the kit at once.

This gets around a big problem that a lot of users have had, namely that of switching between users when more than one phone is in the car.

The latest multipoint kits are ideal if;

You have 2 phones, one for work and one personal.

There are 2 regular users of the car who are often in the car together each with their phone.

You're sharing the driving with someone.

The first kit to support multipoint is the THB CC9060
